Description
In the course of the last decades, detailed and elaborate reference works have been published on the orders and decorations of the small German states and the Empire as well as the "Third Reich" and World War 2. The period in between was left out. Neither on the decorations of the Weimar Republic and the warrior associations nor on those of the Freikorps and volunteer troops is there detailed literature. This illustrated book will fill these gaps. It deals with the so-called post-war battles after 1918, which took place in the border guards, in the Reich, in the cities, in Upper Silesia and in German Austria.
Due to the lack of state recognition and in order to enhance the value of their own troops, the Freikorps and troop leaders created their own awards as decorations for bravery, loyalty or service. These awards ranged from the lapel pin to the neck cross and breast star. Since there were initially no binding manufacturing regulations for the state and private awards, each manufacturer produced his own designs. This led to an unmanageable wealth of variants. A large number of these pieces are described and illustrated. This also applies to the certificates and certificates of ownership. In addition, the donors and examples of wear are shown for many awards. Each award is treated conclusively, i.e. from the foundation to the recognition or to the ban with the corresponding sources. All previous works on this subject are parts of a book (e.g. Dr. Klietmann: "Deutsche Auszeichnungen"), single articles in journals or enumerations in evaluation catalogues. With the abundance of information on this historically interesting period of time, not only the scholar of orders but also those interested in military history will get their money's worth.
