Since 1952 Airfix produces plastic modeling kits, thus being the oldest british manufacturer in this area. Airfix today offers a broad spectrum of kits: airplanes, ships, cars, dioramas, figures and military vehicles. Airfix was founded in 1939 by hungarian refugee Nicholas Kove. Airfix was the first manufacturer to use injection moulding machines. By the end of the Fourties he was asked to make a model of a traktor for advertising purposes. So the first modeling kit was developed with many more Airfix kits to come.
